Inside The Curriculum

Character Before Belts, Ages 4 to 12

Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Davis Martial Arts & Fitness in Pilot Point is built to grow a child from the inside out. Younger kids start with listening, focus, and body control; older kids add real grappling: positions, escapes, and the control that lets a smaller child handle a bigger one without striking.

Because it is grappling, not striking, BJJ is one of the safest martial arts for kids, and one of the most honest. There is no faking a position that works. As a certified affiliate of the Machado Method, the curriculum here traces directly to one of the founding families of the art.

Leverage Beats Size

How We Build Kids

Built around how kids actually develop.

Every kids program keys in on the four stages of childhood development: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Social. We call it PIES. It is how we structure classes, design drills, and build the relationships that turn a shy four-year-old into a confident kid who walks into school with a quiet sense of who they are.

  • P Physical

Coordination, strength, control of the body.

  • I Intellectual

Focus, problem-solving, learning how to learn.

  • E Emotional

    Confidence, self-regulation, handling setbacks.

  • S Social

    Respect, teamwork, friendship across ages.
