Never Trained a Day in Your Life? Good.
Real self-defense is a skill you build over time. At Davis Martial Arts & Fitness in Pilot Point, women train Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with instructors who meet you at your level and keep the room controlled and respectful. Classes are mixed, and training with partners of different sizes is exactly what makes the technique hold up.
A Room Built for Someone Who Is New.
-
A Welcoming Dojo Culture
Family-run. Family-oriented. Zero tolerance for the ego nonsense women sometimes hear about at other gyms.
-
Taught by Verified Credentials
Led by Cameron Davis, a BJJ brown belt under Master Carlos Machado and a 5th-degree Krav Maga black belt. Patient, respectful, and experienced with beginners.
-
Start Where You Are
Beginners are welcome in every class. No prior experience. No fitness baseline required.
-
You Are Not the Only Beginner
Women train here, and so do plenty of people who walked in knowing nothing. You will not be the odd one out for starting at the beginning.
The Three Things Women Worry About Most.
-
Never trained before?
Every woman here started at zero. Instructors teach you the first move on your first day. You are not expected to know anything when you walk in.
-
Not in great shape?
You get in shape by training, not before it. Krav Maga and BJJ reward technique and timing over raw strength, so you start on day one at whatever fitness you have now.
-
Worried about training with men?
Classes are mixed, and that is the point. Using leverage against a bigger, stronger partner is exactly the skill self-defense asks for. Instructors keep every round controlled and respectful.
Where Should You Start?
Every one of these builds real self-defense capability. Here is how to tell which one fits you, told straight, including how often each runs.
-
Krav Maga
Start here if: You want practical defense soonest, and you would rather train real-world scenarios than sport technique.
Standing defense against grabs, strikes, and weapons, drilled at a realistic pace. Taught by Cameron Davis, a 5th-degree Krav Maga black belt.
Runs nine classes a week, so a full schedule rarely boxes you out. This is the program we point most women to first.

Adult & Teen Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Start here if: You want the size-and-strength equalizer, and you want the lowest-injury art to train for years.
Leverage-based grappling that teaches you to control and escape from someone bigger, including live practice against a resisting partner.
Seven classes a week, gi and no-gi. More physical contact than Krav Maga, and that contact is what builds the reflex.

Muay Thai & Kickboxing
Start here if: You want conditioning and striking first, with self-defense capability as a benefit rather than the reason you came.
Pad work, footwork, and striking combinations at your own pace, with a serious workout built in.
Two classes a week, the lightest commitment of the three. If defense is your main goal, pair it with Krav Maga or BJJ.

Why Krav Maga and BJJ Hold Up.
-
Krav Maga Trains the Worst Day, Not a Scoreboard
Authentic Israeli self-defense built to end a real attack fast: strikes, escapes, and weapon defense. Taught by a 5th-degree Krav Maga black belt.
-
BJJ Makes Size Stop Deciding It
BJJ was built on the idea that leverage and technique beat muscle. You learn to control and escape from someone bigger and stronger without matching their power.
-
You Train Against Real Resistance
Both arts pressure-test what you learn against partners actually working to stop you. You leave knowing your technique holds up, because you used it that week.

I started going here with little to no experience. A sense of nervousness was gone instantly when the coaches and students started helping me immediately. Everyone is super helpful and knowledgeable, they made it super easy to get into. I’m looking forward to my future here!

I can’t say enough good things about this family-owned BJJ academy. From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like family, not just another student. The instructors are not only incredibly skilled but also patient, encouraging, and truly dedicated to helping everyone—kids and adults alike—reach their goals.

I just started here a couple of weeks ago and I have really enjoyed it. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. If you’re thinking about joining but have reservations about it, go for it, you won’t regret it. Cameron is a great instructor and very professional.

Questions Women Ask.
How long until I can actually defend myself?
Self-defense is a skill, and skills build with time. Many women develop real body awareness, leverage, and core technique within their first few months of training two to three times a week. That is a typical pace rather than a promise, and it keeps building the longer you train.
Is BJJ safe to train regularly?
BJJ is one of the lowest-injury martial arts to train consistently. There are no strikes to the face and no knockouts in practice. Live rolling is introduced gradually, once an instructor sees you have the control to do it safely. Many students train for years without significant wear.
How is training here different from a one-day self-defense class?
A one-day seminar teaches a handful of moves you will mostly forget within a week. Real self-defense is a reflex, and reflexes come from training against partners who are actually trying to stop you. Krav Maga and BJJ at Davis Martial Arts & Fitness in Pilot Point give you the structure, the partners, and the repetition to build that reflex.
